What we do

Sponsorships are the heart of Sertoma. They are the service projects that support our community.

Shoes for Kids - Our club supports nine schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District Adopt-a-School program by providing shoes to needy children. The “Shoes for Kids” project works with selected school personnel (usually counselors or nurses) to identify needy students and offer them a Sertoma voucher for a new pair of shoes from Payless Shoe Stores. They follow safeguards to maintain the integrity of the use of the vouchers.

Declaration of Independence - For most of the Club's 65+ years, members have distributed free reproductions of the Declaration of Independence to local elementary school students, teachers and Administrators. The students are presented with their own personal copy along with a discussion of the history of the document and its crafters.

Goodrich Center - Members of our organization work with the Goodrich Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Fort Worth. Through this and other community connections, we are able to support individual needs that emerge, such as (1) funding assistance for cochlear implants, (2) Speech Easy device for assisted learning, and (3) assistance or devices for low income deaf or deafblind residents.

DEAF, inc. Assisted Living Center - Each Christmas, our members play Santa to the residents of the DEAF inc. program at Heritage Square Assisted Living Center, providing Christmas gifts and fellowship to those without families to share the holiday season with.

We are continuously looking for opportunities to broaden our support within the community.
